When things get chaotic in my world, I always find solace in browsing the web. A pretty dangerous activity, as most of my bookmarks lead straight to my favorite vintage sellers and always induce at least one or two heart attacks at the beauty that lies within. I’ve spent the past week in Cairns at a conference, and have found myself falling into the pattern of browsing my favorite websites to unwind from the busy day full of sciencing.
My inability to turn my mind off at the end of a chaotic day is definitely your gain, as I’ve pulled together my latest Lust List! (You can also check out last month’s list here). Ohhhh there are some beauties out there on the interwebs, if you just know where to look….
And so with it’s usual fanfare, here’s a round up of the latest things I’m lusting after…
For My Castle
Okay, this is the cutest, most kitsch birdhouse I’ve ever seen…and I think I need a matching one that’s grown up sized (complete with wings).
I dream of filling my house with colorful light fixtures that would cast rainbows all around my world…
I absolutely love art made from found objects, and this driftwood cloud wall sculpture is so beautiful…
How crazy clever is this paint roller? If paint and wallpaper were to meet in a bar over drinks and then 9 months later…
Ummm, I kind of want one of these cloud lamps in every room… (clearly I have a thing for rainclouds. I’m not sorry.)
For the Closet
I love bold prints, but the heart design on this 1960’s batik dress pushes me over the edge.
If you’ve ever had a fantasy of looking like Jessica Rabbit for a night, this dress would fulfill them…
This adorable chambray dress with these shoes and this bag would be picnic perfection…
Vicky Vaughn is one of my favorite vintage designers and this embroidered sundress is everything I love about her!
I just love how versatile this vintage silver lurex dress is – you can wear it with a range of colored slips underneath, or be a bit more daring and just rock a beautiful lace bra and these silver pumps.
Ohhh this honeybee dress is the sweetest! And how cute would it be with these hairpins?? Gah! Cuteness overload…
This quilted border print dress is the perfect way to stay fabulous in the cooler months…
The colors, the print, the stunning pattern matching…this border print dress seriously has it all.
Ahhh my love for vintage lace capelets knows no bounds….
This metallic lace dress is pure fantasy…
Ohhh when it comes to repro dresses, this one has it all… This shop really makes the most stunning dresses. (You can see the last one I purchased from her in this post.)
I’m telling you, spring is calling my name. And it’s calling me to wear this dress and run through fields of wildflowers…
And speaking of running through fields of wildflowers, this minty ethereal anthem dress would do the trick nicely…
To Decorate My Feet
Oh I want, I want, I want these shoes. Mr. Dressed Aesthetic, if you’re reading this… hint hint hint…
Oh Fluevog, you’ve done it again. These heels are perfection…
For me, the girlier and the prettier the better. Don’t you think we all need a pair of angel wing heels? I know I do…
Ohhh these vintage 90’s-does-60’s platforms are INSANE. Instant love.
For Some Arm Candy
I nearly fainted at the beauty of this hand-painted lucite bag…
Navy bags seem to much harder to come by than black bags. This vintage beaded one simply takes the navy cake…
I found the world’s most perfect change purse. And who doesn’t need a little change?
I can embrace all manner of Star Wars nerdiness with this bag.
This vintage 1950’s back wicker bag is amazing – and big enough to hold all the necessities (and it’s on sale!).
And Just Because
I am completely mesmerized by this bold anthurium headpiece. Personality: The Untamed and Dangerous.
The cutest little 1970’s denim bikini I ever did see. Hurry up and come back to me summer!
I absolutely love vintage celluloid jewelry. This 1930’s carved floral bangle is stunning and in the most dreamy pastel palette.
I’ve been wanting to tackle a few more ambitious sewing projects, and brushing up on some couture sewing techniques would definitely be the way to start feeling inspired…
I just love old things with a new twist. This necklace looks like a vintage cameo, but with a hand embroidered prickly pear cactus inside! I’m pretty smitten with the pineapple too…
I’m so enamored with nail stickers at the moment, and these goldfish are too cute for words (so are the strawberries, octopus, and burgers…OMG is that SOUP?? Yeah, I pretty much want every set from this shop!)
As you read this, I am packing up and heading back home to Perth after a very successful week in Cairns. My talk went really well and I was able to have many fabulously nerdy conversations over many fabulous beers. Speaking of fabulous – today is actually Mr. Dressed Aesthetic’s and my 5 year wedding anniversary! Because I’m traveling, we’ve decided to postpone it and celebrate next week (with a fabulous evening out and a fabulous outfit post to come!)
But perhaps today more than ever, as much fun as traveling is (and as much of it as I seem to be doing lately), I always love the part where I get to go home. Where Mr. Dressed picks me up from the airport and we snuggle on the couch and catch up on everything we missed, before watching hopelessly bad t.v. and promising to unpack “tomorrow.” Nothing new made it’s way into my suitcase on this trip, but no promises of the next one!
Anything striking your fancy lately?
xoxo
