Moving across the world (and having that moving date bear down menacingly on you) naturally comes with a lot of lasts and a lot of goodbyes. Dinners and coffees with friends usually end nowadays with the knowledge that we may not see them again for a very long time. We find ourselves really savoring our favorite restaurants and bidding a quiet farewell to our favorite beaches, knowing that no matter how many times we say that we’ll be back one last time before we go, it’s just not realistic that we’ll get to it all. Time is relentlessly ticking down to the moment we take a bow, bid adieu, and the curtain falls on our time here.
I‘m also succumbing to the fact that I will need to be separated from the majority of my wardrobe for 8 weeks or more, as our lives are going to be packed into a shipping container a week from Wednesday (save for what we can fit into our suitcases). While the thought of what might happen to my vintage when it’s not safely in my clutches gives me heart palpitations, I know that we will be reunited on the other side with only minor separation anxiety. At least our shipping company better hope so…
Knowing we will soon be parted, I have this irrational urge to make the most of my closet while I can. I almost want to change my outfit 3x a day so I can wear as many of my favorite dresses as possible before my styling options become sorely limited. This vintage ribbon print dress from Nicole Elaine Vintage is definitely one that needed one last spin before being packed away for her journey across the sea….
Speaking of one last spin, I’ve undertaken the arduous task of deciding on garments that I shall spin in no more. If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen some hints of my next Closet Sale – which will go live this Wednesday! There will be some vintage (mostly 50’s) and several vintage-inspired items (modcloth, anthropologie, unique vintage, etc.) for sale in a range of sizes. I’ll be previewing the entire lot here on the blog – but you can only claim on my @shopdressedappscloset Instagram. If you see anything in this sneak peak you want more info on (sizes, etc), shoot me a message or ask away in the comments section.
In the meantime, wish me luck with all of this packing business…
xoxo
