As this is my first year in NC, I’m experiencing so many things for the first time. The biggest has been the whackadoo seasons. It is 74 degrees one day and 40 the next. And somehow when I look back, we really only managed to have four days that I would classify as “winter.” This does not bode well for what the summer has in store. But, though the chilly weather is slipping further and further into my rearview mirror, I am enjoying the cooler evenings when I can still embrace capes and cardigans with glee.
Speaking of things in my rear view mirror, I am in the process of calculating final grades, and then I can officially close the book on this semester! I can’t even tell you how excited I am to spend the next few months setting up my lab and actually getting to unpack the tower of boxes around me. As someone who thrives on organization, not having time for much besides dumping boxes in a corner and hunching over my laptop has me itching for some order. I have big plans for my label maker….
Now that the madness has died down a bit, I can get back to the things outside of work that I love: dinner out with the Mister, where I can burst forth with vintage perfection like this beauty from Mill Street Vintage, setting up my sewing room, and possibly even getting involved in one of the amazing community theaters around town.
Phase 1 of the move didn’t give a lot of time for exploring our new city, but we are definitely making up for lost time now. Finally venturing downtown and out to the seashore. Finding hidden cafes and the perfect Irish pub, complete with the best reuben I ever laid taste buds on. I also embraced my free evening and went to a fabulous vintage meet up last night at Second Skin Vintage – and I have to say, I feel as though I’m slowly finding My People.
A gal definitely needs her People…
