And here we are. On the day that comes but once a year: My Birthday! I’m always somewhat surprised when March 15 appears before me, but moreso this year than any other time. I think life has been so busy that I completely forgot about it until the Mr. asked me last week how I wanted to celebrate. It’s such a stark contrast to how I felt as a kid – waiting feverishly for the days to tick by so I could get one year closer to adulthood.
I know once you become a lady of a certain age, most people dread their birthday. Dread the thought of time ticking by. As if there’s this point where you cross an invisible threshold, moving from the feeling of trying to catch up to the feeling of trying not to move too quickly. But, despite my complete forgetfulness this year, I actually have never minded turning a year older. A year wiser. And I fully embrace my 30’s – and all of the fabulousness that goes with it.
Although it’s the middle of the week. Mr. D and I are heading out tonight to celebrate. And it just wouldn’t be me unless I went for it with all manner of fruit-adored clothing and burst forth into my newest birthday year like a vibrant blueberry shortcake!
Let us never know what old age is. Let us know the happiness time brings, not count the years.

I actually have no idea where I’m being whisked away to for birthday celebrations tonight, but my lovely husband has assured me it’ll be a 2-crinoline minimum kind of restaurant. And seeing the parcels that he’s been squirreling away over the last couple of weeks from various friends and family members definitely has me getting into the birthday mood.
Speaking of a birthday mood, to celebrate such an auspicious occasion (and the fact that this month is also my blog’s birthday!), I will be sharing an exciting surprise for all of you next week. There’s only one way I like to celebrate: with vintage! Stay tuned…
xoxo
