I make no secret about my love of dresses. But, I hope I’ve equally conveyed how in love I am with handbags. Novelty bags, lucite, leather, suede. I want all the handbags. I admittedly went through a period of my life when I owned one handbag and never gave it a second thought (we shall pause to reflect on the horror). Needless to say, I’ve made up for lost time since then.
One of my favorite movies of all time has got to be Back To the Future. And not the sequels (especially not the awful one set in the Wild West). My heart belongs to the original. Doc Brown’s antics (and crazy hair). Marty McFly and his inherent awkwardness. Got to love a story where the nerd gets the girl and the bully gets what’s coming to him. I tend to discover new brands and shops through my favorite bloggers and my can’t-keep-away-from-it favorite social media app, Instagram. One that was continually piquing my interest, appearing in the closets of forever favorites Miss Amy May and Cici and Marie, was Dolly and Dotty, a UK-based brand that specializes in 1950’s silhouettes aimed at women who aren’t afraid to be celebrate themselves.
It’s one of the best times on the blog again, where I’m turning the Spotlight On a favorite vintage store! Given my penchant for mid-century garments, it’s no surprise I’ve stacked up quite the collection. But in doing so, I’ve also stacked up quite a few amazing lovely sellers-turned-friends along the way.
Nothing makes me happier than discovering new shops carrying vintage or vintage-inspired dresses. It’s like uncovering a hidden treasure trove that, for that moment, only I get to know about. And then, of course I get so excited I immediately need to share it with all of you!

A few months ago I was contacted by the organizers of the Bindaring Red Cross Clothing Sale to see if I wanted to be involved and help them promote this wonderful event (taking place on 14th May at the Claremont Showground). If you’ve never heard of the Bindaring Clothing Sale before (I was admittedly a neophyte as well), this is a charitable event, selling new and vintage clothing and accessories, and all funds raised go to support local Red Cross services. Vintage and charity? I didn’t even hesitate.
