Another month has come and gone, and this one was a serious whip-lash inducing frenzy of work, work and more work! I have to say, for being a shortened month, I felt as though I crammed in more than usual. It was certainly productive – from the successful course (which was done and dusted as of Friday), progress on a few new projects, and I somehow managed to not twitch myself into an oblivion despite the over abundance of caffeine.
Brace yourself ladies, for you are about to meet one of the most amazing dresses ever to grace my closet. The kind of dress that makes the day a bit brighter, makes your heart beat a bit more quickly, and makes a Tuesday feel like the most perfect, endless Saturday. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The dress you never knew your life was incomplete without. The feeling of coming home.
Wow, 2016 arrived and January was gone in a flash! I think it had something to do with the fact the the first half of my January involved a whole lot of blissful relaxation. The University tends to close down for much of the month, and that kept my inbox at bay and my mind on vintage pursuits.
As another year draws to a close, I can’t help but sit, The Thinker-style, and ponder on what shape I want 2016 to take. To prepare myself for the inevitable questions of what my New Years Resolutions will be. Now, my cynical self tends to be squarely in the camp of “you can make resolutions any time you choose” where, for all intents and purposes, NYE is just an arbitrary date. But, my silver-lining self thinks the world can do with a few reminders now and then. And I have to admit, this time of year definitely lends itself to reflection and resolve…
Okay, we all know I love to dress up. I get fancy for a Tuesday. So I practically start to quiver with excitement when I get to get seriously frocked up. And not run-of-the-mill, simply wearing a dress fancy. I’m talking: Glitter. Tulle. Heels so high I become Amazonian. Eyeshadow so glittery I am mistaken for a disco ball. Skirts so poofy they need their own zip code. That level of fancy. Because standing under the mistletoe, welcoming the jolly fat guy in a red suit, ringing in the new year – these are not things to be taken lightly…
I absolutely love the holiday season – it seems that everything takes on a festive glow and the twinkle lights strewn around make everything a bit more magical. I love the Christmas music playing everywhere (which I am also known to play in July if I’m having a really bad day. You just can’t be sad listening to Christmas music). I love the Christmas parties, the smell of pine needles, and the anticipation of that special someone opening that very perfect gift.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I made major progress on my Christmas shopping this weekend. Is there anything quite as satisfying as checking things off of a list? Not for this girl. There were so many amazing deals swirling around my favorite shops – it was exactly the motivation I needed! The end of October notoriously marks the spookiest time of the year. I remember how much I used to love Halloween as a kid. My sister and I would usually play a part in making our costumes – store-bought costumes were never for us.
