I know a lot of people have a slight aversion to yellow – for some reason, it’s the dress that’s passed by or the paint color not chosen. I couldn’t disagree more. Yellow is and will forever be my happy color. The day always takes on a sunnier hue when I wear it and this pinstriped party frock in particular is her very own sunburst.
This dress is from a newly discovered Melbourne-based shop Deerfield Vintage. I bought this dress from them months ago, and ever since have stalked their Etsy shop and drooled over the bevy of beauties they fill it with. I’m adding this shop to the list of many things I took for granted here Australia that I will no longer have easy access to, which also includes inclusive tax on a price tag, a park on nearly every block, and not having to tip. Ahhh Australia. But, at least I have beautiful frocks like this to remember her by.
Speaking of remembrances, I know some of you scooped up some of my pretty memories in my closet sale – thank you for giving my garments new homes! It always feels better parting with something when you know it stays in the family. If any of you missed it, you can check out the items that are still up for grabs here.
Meanwhile, I’m going to go out and see if I can’t inspire a bit of sunshine. Today’s the day I’m officially wrapping up the last of everything at the lab – where the final samples will be packed, my office swept and dusted, and another chapter in my life will be closed. Hopefully this yellow dress can work her magic and inspire a bit of happiness in a day that will be no doubt sad. Endings inevitably are. But I suppose endings are necessary in order to have new beginnings.
Think happy thoughts for me today!
xoxo
