This was definitely a Thanksgiving like no other. In years past, one of my favorite parts of the holiday was the annual visit from my sister, brother-in-law, and niece, Brynn, who would bring energy and effervescence into our home here in NC. Thanks to the pandemic, Zoomsgiving is what’s on the menu. But, I can think of nothing to be more grateful for than those who will forego time with family and friends to keep each other safe.
So, Mr. Dressed and I had a quiet Thanksgiving at home together this year, complete with an amazing beef Wellington and a homemade apple pie that our lovely friend dropped off. And today, as we rolled out of bed and wondered (like we do every year) how we could have eaten so much, it was time for the next time-honored tradition in our house.
As has become an annual tradition every Friday after Turkey Day, Mr. D. and I park on opposite sides of the sofa and get a jump start on our Christmas shopping. This year more than ever, it’s increasingly important to support small businesses – they’ve been hit harder than anyone else during the pandemic and could really use our shopping dollars.
