Citrus Christmas

Lemoncello - The Dressed Aesthetic

Truth be told, I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. Christmas cookies are kind of wasted on me and I’m not a fan of egg nog (it’s a wonder Santa didn’t just pass by me for my rejection of Christmas staples). Even as a kid, I could hoard my Halloween candy for months, much to my sister’s chagrin. I’m the weird girl who goes to a restaurant and says she’ll just have one bite of her husband’s dessert, and actually means it. But, if I ever do hedge away from the garlic bread and towards the dessert tray (rare, mind you), it’s almost always towards something sour…

Another oddity about me (I am overflowing with quirk), is my love of all clothing adorned with things that belong in the produce aisle. Handbags shaped as strawberries. Fruit print dresses. Rhinestone apple necklaces. If it’s got fruit on it, I pretty much can’t resist. So, you can imagine my bliss when my lovely friend Rose tagged me when this stunning lemon-adorned Marjorie Montgomery set popped up over at Bee & Mason Vintage. A little bit sweet and a little bit sour, this beauty (like her sister) is my kind of holiday dessert…

As you read this, I am firmly ensconced in snowy New England, sipping hot cider and trying to keep my toes from going numb. It’s been an amazing trip so far – if you’ve been following my Instagram, you know we’ve spent the last few days stomping around snowy New Hampshire, visiting new vintage stores and even rocking a Panic Room (solved it with about 56 seconds to spare!). It was a Christmas miracle, but I also managed to finish the magical illuminated Snow Globe skirt, so we got in a true winter wonderland photo shoot.

True to form, I’m still rocking my favorite vintage despite the snow. There may be a few extra layers involved, but my winter wardrobe is pretty much my summer wardrobe with tights and a cardigan. I’m such a huge fan of bright colors in the winter to brighten up the gloom – and this skirt needed wearing, regardless of the season.

Because I will be very likely tucked into family traditions and off social media for the next few days, I want to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a happy, healthy holiday season. Whether you are spending it on the beach having a BBQ, wrapped in wool socks rocking a lemon-appliquéd skirt, or on some amazing adventure, I hope you are drenched in the magic this time of year has to offer and that Santa brings you a surprise or two.

Here’s hoping Santa brings me a fruit-shaped clutch or a citrus-adorned shoe. At the very least, a lemon martini. My kind of Christmas…

xoxo
