Fruit Salad

Fruit Salad - The Dressed Aesthetic

A few weeks ago, while I was browsing one of my favorite blogs In A Nutshell, the fabulous Sara Lily unapologetically announced that her closet could be mistaken for a fruit salad. And I had to laugh out loud. One glance towards my own wardrobe, and I can safely say we’ve got an ambrosia situation threatening to jump out of the fruit bowl and onto my person. Well, if you can’t beat em…buy more fruit themed things!

Everyone has a different thing that draws them in. For me, I can’t help but fall in love with 3D details. I love the textural quality of appliqué. Pieces that stand in sharp relief to the garment and remind me that an artist stopped and put thought into where details are to be placed. And let’s be honest, if that 3D appliqué is in fruit form, well, just take my money and point me towards the farmer’s market…

There is a certain camaraderie that manifests within the vintage community. Although competitiveness and catty personalities can be found everywhere, my experiences with other vintage-loving folks has been so overwhelmingly positive. We reach out to each other in mutual admiration. We send words of encouragement across cyber space. And we keep an eye out for each other’s Unicorns.

Many weeks ago, fellow vintage aficionado SewLongAgo messaged me to give me first dibs on this Marjorie Montgomery stunner – by now, you all know my lifelong hunt for all Marjorie Montgomery dresses out there in the wild (case in point here & here). It warms my heart that not only do fellow members of the vintage community remember that, but they go an extra mile to offer you the pieces that you spend your life searching for. I could not possibly appreciate more the opportunity to add this latest beauty to my fruit salad….

What’s fashion detail makes your heart skip a beat?

xoxo
