Surprisingly, I am a huge fan of the outdoors. I only say surprisingly because you’d take one look at me and assume that the thought of leaving my heels behind for a weekend would be a tantamount to a death sentence. Now, although I agree that the wonders of a mattress and a hot shower cannot be denied, I’ve always been a huge fan of camping and diving and boating and everything in between. I don’t always get back to it as often as I’d like, but every time I do it seems to center me.
I think I might have a dichotomous personality. The two most favorite times of my day are (1) When I get to get all dressed up in the morning and (2) When I come home and get to shed the day and immediately don my pajamas. Similarly, I love my sparkly heels and could be ready for a black tie event at a moment’s notice. But, I never feel more at home than when I’m on the water and, so long as there are no spiders near my person, would happily spend the night sleeping under the stars…
As such, I have a complete and total weakness for scenic prints. I am practically powerless to resist them. I wonder if it’s because I spend so much of my day indoors, hunched over a computer or a lab bench, that it brings back a smidge of the nature I crave into my day. To me, this dress is everything. The print, the vibrant colors, the cinched waist. It reminds me of the beautiful flower filled meadows that want to be frolicked in and the bridges leading over rivers that have yet to be explored.
So, although I must be off to run statistics and engage in back to back meetings for the majority of my day, this dress will remind me that the great outdoors is just waiting patiently for my return…
xoxo
