I make no secret about my love of dresses. But, I hope I’ve equally conveyed how in love I am with handbags. Novelty bags, lucite, leather, suede. I want all the handbags. I admittedly went through a period of my life when I owned one handbag and never gave it a second thought (we shall pause to reflect on the horror). Needless to say, I’ve made up for lost time since then.
It has been raining nonstop in my corner of the world. And we’re talking all manner of rain. Big, fat saturating rain. Little spitting furious rain. Windswept biting rain. All of the above. Blustering wind, soggy shoes, and hair plastered against my face. It’s not pretty. I have felt waterlogged for weeks and less than impressed. It also makes taking blog photos that much more difficult (I know, I know, first world problems).
Another August has been and gone. I don’t know about you, but I sincerely feel like time is picking up speed as the years progresses. I blinked and this past month disappeared. And I don’t have a whole lot of recollection of exactly where it went.
Like any good vintage-loving girl, I can’t help but romanticize the past. I fully acknowledge we have the luxury of looking back with rose colored glasses, and gazing at historical paintings or imagining the romance of the Renaissance and a life lived on horseback is very likely not all it’s cracked up to be (I mean, they didn’t even have indoor plumbing. Or wifi). But, in the crazy, fast paced world we live in, there is something so appealing about a simpler time.
Murphy’s Law always states that when you can least afford to shop, all you’ll find are things you wish you could buy. And when you have a bit of extra cash and want to splurge on yourself, you can’t find a single thing that strikes your fancy. I generally fall into the former category. All. The. Time.
In addition to a lot of online vintage hunting, I also am lucky enough to do a fair bit of traveling. So, it should come as no surprise that, on occasion, those two worlds collide in a Bermuda Triangle of events, whereby I get to visit a brick and mortar of one of my favorite shops, and get lost in all of the vintage…
