A Bit Tied Up

There are certain items in every woman’s closet that simply bring out the va va VOOM. Regardless of the events of the day, some dresses will fall out of my wardrobe and onto my person and there’s never an ounce of doubt that it’ll fit fabulously. Their secret (and a feature I keep my eyes peeled for in vintage shops): The Corset Ties. And I’m not talking about the lingerie variety…

I have a few vintage dresses now that boast an over-cincher – i.e., corset ties that are part of the dress and cinch on top of the bodice – and every time I wear them I feel utterly fabulous. Seriously, whoever took this feature from undergarment to overgarment deserves a medal. It cinches you in perfectly and if you’re having one of those days, can be loosened to suit your comfort. It also doesn’t hurt that this particular dress comes with a gorgeous floral print and a bit of a saloon quality about her – stick ’em up!

I definitely appreciate the added sass this dress gives me today as I charge wholeheartedly into the week. Following some self-reflection regarding my lack of traveling for fun, I’m making a concerted effort to plan the second half of this year around adventures. Things to look forward to. Investing in my heart and soul just as much as I invest in ticking all of life’s daily boxes. There will always be work, responsibilities, and a few unpleasantries that tie up our time, but I think it’s so important to stop once in awhile and see all of the amazing things that sit right at our doorstep. Seeing just how many holiday hours I haven’t taken advantage of over the last few years has lit a fire under my vintage-loving bum!

Looking ahead, plans are underway for the Mister and I to take a trek to New Zealand this coming July (fingers crossed it comes through! A few ducks to get in a row first). It is a second home for me and I can’t wait to show him a place that holds a piece of my heart. I’m also super excited that we’ve planned a trip in September to travel to Fiji and watch one of my very best friends get married. (I plan to call ahead an have my piña colada waiting for us at the swim up bar when we arrive. 😉 I’m nothing if not a planner). Look out excess holiday hours, I’m coming for you!

So, I’m charging into this week with an eye to the future things to look forward to and the tasks I need to accomplish today to get me there.

Any adventures coming up for you?

xoxo
