As I sit here clacking away on my keyboard, I’m enjoying a tradition that hasn’t been able to happen for several years. Thanks to the wonders of science and the fact that they released the vaccine for 5-12 year olds, my sister, brother-in-law, and niece made the trek all the way down to NC (and I do mean trek. None of us felt safe flying yet, so they bundled into the car and zoomed through 13 hours of pavement and rest stops).
So, I have so so much to be thankful for this year, not the least of which is the fact that my house is full of laughter and the smell of turkey roasting and nights spent playing Overcooked (a.k.a. the Divorce Simulator. But we mostly all come out of it alive). I couldn’t be happier in this moment that we were able to reclaim this tradition again this year.
Speaking of traditions, I have once again compiled a list of my favorite vintage shops and retailers who are offering some incredible sales this weekend. This year more than ever, I hope you can consider supporting small businesses in your Christmas shopping – they’ve been hit harder than anyone else during the pandemic and could really use our shopping dollars. It’s also important to note that so many shops have really struggled this past year and perhaps can’t offer a Black Friday deal. My list feels shorter than usual, which tells me how much our favorite shops are hurting. Regardless of a sale, I hope you still consider showing them your patronage.
