There are certain pieces in my closet that came with a bit of magic. A handbag who’s plush grapes you simply couldn’t refuse. A dress that you slip on over your head and feel like it was made for you. Everything about this vintage Rappi dress was meant to be – the fit, the intricate embroidery and scalloped edges, the super full skirt that was made for twirling. Although I tend to lean towards bright colors a lot of the time, I fell in love with the shimmery blush tones of this dress. The perfect muted palette that just seems so full of possibilities.
The best thing about this dress is that it’s so easy. Although it’s Friday and not quite a gloriously relaxed Sunday morning yet, it’s nice to have pieces in your wardrobe that make the workday a little easier. I slipped this dress on this morning and felt instantly pulled together and ready to tackle the day.
It’s been a rather full week at work for me – we’re running a marine neuroscience course, which means giving a lot of lectures and running a lot of lab pracs. Personally, I always find I work better when I’m wearing my version of a power suit. My version of war garb. Although it’s a rather amusing image to think of me marching into battle in 1950’s silk organza, a beautiful outfit truly does become my battle gear, a vintage dress my suit of armor. This week was so full on, there were times I wished I could have worn two vintage dresses at once….
Happy Friday lovelies!
