Oh, hello there June! Now that we are officially in the throws of summer, I can’t think of a better way to officially kick off the season than with a summer Lust List. There’s just something about this weather that inspires all shops to unearth the most amazing vintage. My wishlist and I almost can’t keep up!
I am definitely finding myself slipping into relaxation mode. Everything seems to get increasingly more chill over the summer (at least with the craziness of last semester to compare it to). And although I still have a mile long laundry list of to do items, I find myself answering the call of the ocean more often than not, enjoying a weekend away with the Mr., or ducking out early to take a stroll down to the docks.
And with all of this down time, don’t I need some new clothes so I look adorable in all of my relaxing? Rhetorical question. Of course I do!

We have a bit of a coffee ritual in my house that these spoons would be perfect for – as in, my husband makes me lattes and I love him for it.
Growing up, my love of sharks meant I got shark-themed EVERYTHING as gifts. I sort of grew out of it, but still can’t resist a shark themed bed for my cat now and then….

For some reason, despite my surrender to Relaxation Mode, I’m anticipating a mindset shift in the next week or so towards starting to prep for fall (I know, already? But I’m a planner). I have a few projects to clear off my desk, and then comes that all-too-familiar fear of what on earth I’m going to teach them about come mid-August!?! I mean, it’s not like Marine Biology is a broad field or anything…
At least when the stress starts to creep in, I can feel safe in the knowledge that I survived it once, and therefore can survive it again. It’s amazing what prior experience can do for your mindset. As if resilience is simply born from a quick glance into my rearview mirror. Maybe that’s a successful survival strategy? Do everything once and therefore be afraid of nothing.
Better get on that List of Everything. And in the meantime, I can seek solace in vintage…..
