Sea Angel (+ Black Friday sales)

Sea Angel - The Dressed Aesthetic

My love of the hea knows no bounds. I’ve always had a lifelong passion for the ocean and all of it’s undersea inhabitants – I think I announced when I was 5 that I was going to be an ichthyologist who studies sharks (no really, I’m serious). So, it’s no surprise I’m amassing quite the collection of vintage novelty seaside prints. I pretty much can’t resist them (case in point here). Every time I find one it unleashes a new wave of childhood joy.

This seaside print dress was definitely no exception. She’s given me a bit of renewed energy today, which I sorely need, with student thesis chapters piling up on my desk faster than I can read them, new students that need training, and Christmas looming in the distance. Does that happen for anyone else? Where the busiest of days become somehow more manageable in a cute dress? Those long walks to meetings become somehow lighter in a pair of winged heels? This adorable novelty print dress, brimming with benthic critters, combined with heels that just might give me flight…they almost hold my hand as if to say, “Don’t worry. We’re going to get through this together.”

It’s been all kinds of oceanic chaos over here today, with lists and lists of shark-related things to attend to. Speaking of lists, I haven’t forgotten the looming date of Christmas (though I’ve been pulling an ostrich and sticking my head in the sand a bit. The stress! The insurmountable tasks! I just can’t face it). Despite my obvious slack of late in the Christmas shopping department, I have buckled down spent a bit of time getting organized in preparation for Black Friday. I’ve learned over the years that the best Christmas shopping experience in the world does not involve malls and fighting the crowds, but a cup of coffee, my laptop, and fuzzy slippers.

To help you all benefit from the fruits of my labor, I also spent some time collating the various Black Friday sales that are swirling around the interwebs – I’ll try to update new ones as I find them, but here are the most current deals to my favorite shops:
