Sun More Time

Sun More Time - The Dressed Aesthetic

Well, day we have all been dreading is nearly upon us: the End of Summer. I know for many of you you’re staring at your screen in disbelief. “Ummm, Kara? You know it’s only mid August, right? We’ve got weeks of summer left!” Sigh. If only. Tomorrow officially marks the first day of school. It’s back to writing lectures, proctoring exams, and seeing far less of my comfy bed than I’ve grown accustomed too these past few months…

There is something about the first day of school: it’s always accompanied by fear mixed with anticipation. Endless summer days giving way to routines and schedules. Fresh notebooks and a classroom full of unfamiliar faces. Although I will sorely miss all of the freedom, there’s something comforting to me about getting back to set tasks and deadlines. I am my best when I have 12 things to do at any given time, racing from one thing to the next, and I can definitely feel my spine straightening and my game face sliding on, ready to hit the ground running and tackle the madness that is nearly upon me.

…and all at once,
summer collapsed into fall.

I could think of no better way to bid a fond farewell to summer than to wear one of the most summery frocks currently hiding in my closet. This is my latest acquisition from a recently-discovered vintage store, Fashion by Robert Black. I love discovering new vintage stores almost as much as I love summer, so when I saw her lilac hues, trimmed in roses and summertime, I knew she was meant to be in my closet.

So wish me luck, dear friends. In less than 24 hours, my life is about to belong to 96 eager marine biology students and an endless iv drip of coffee. I think I need to take the long way home today. Kick off my sandals and wriggle my bare feet in the grass, relishing my last days of those crazy, hazy, lazy days of summer.

Hit me baby sun more time…

xoxo
